Appreciating Education

Natalie, our co-founder was interviewed as an Alumni of NCC Havering Colleges - now the largest further education institution in East London! The NO Collective work with NCC Havering Colleges regularly finding work experience placements for creative students (of which generally placements are lacking!)  the work placement team are hugely passionate and caring and we always feel it is right to help out where we can in helping the educators who educated us! Hopefully this interview along with dozens of 'where are they now' pages will help to inspire young adults to find the right path for them!

In the interview she outlines what she loved about college and how to progress your career in an organic and passionate way!

“I found my calling when I was at the college and I truly found my independence. Up to this point I had followed the average academic path through GCSEs and A Levels, but college was a very different place that gave me passion for what I was doing and taught me that life is about finding your own goals rather than pre-defined ones.”

Review: The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾

 On Wednesday the 4th of May I had the pleasure of attending The Queens Theatre's production of T he Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾.  I would like to preface this review by saying that as a 22 ¼ year old, I came into this show knowing next to nothing about the source material, yet this didn't negatively impact my experience at all. Indeed, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ is a musical that is fun for all generations, even if you're a bit too young to have seen the original series (or to have been alive in the 80's).  The musical was originally written by Jake Brunger with music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary. Whilst the show doesn't necessarily have a strictly linear plot and the story doesn't have the highest of stakes, its simplicity adds to the charm of the production. Play Review: The Witchfinder's Sister

The Witchfinder's sister is a chilling tale based on the real life witch hunts of Thomas Hopkins. It was first written by Beth Underdown and was later adapted for the stage by Vickie Donoghue. The play tells the tale of Alice Hopkins an intelligent and independent woman who returns to her Essex home after a personal tragedy. Upon her arrival she finds her once beloved brother to be a Witchfinder and embroiled in a dark conspiracy against the women of the area. Alice embarks on a mission to put an end to the hysteria and save the women she knows to be innocent, attempting to save her brother's soul in the process.  Through the use of names and locations most associated with the 1600's witch hunts the story is instantly chilling before the production has even begun. This sense of fear and terror is added to throughout the production through the intense plot, filled with great moments of suspense and an ongoing mystery which allows the audience to unravel the conspiracy...
