Day 4 in the ‘Game-On’ House

14:00

Today, the housemates have been talking about participation. 

Julia (Big Sister) explained to the housemates at the beginning of the week that they must create a game together to complete this weeks task. Some housemates were not comfortable in creating their own game- but after successfully completing the ‘becoming a game designer’ task they have decided to go ‘all in’.

16:00

Today is the big day and this morning housemates took the opportunity to practise with ideation and the abc game. Increasing their chances on successful game making.

To compete in this weeks task the housemates must ensure there are rules and collaborative working between the other members, but more importantly an educational and participatory backbone to their games. 

17:00

The housemates research, make and test this game over a couple of days and to try and make Julia (Big Sister) happy they are consistently walking in and out of the diary room (Facebook group) and shower her with memes about their game making skills. 

Big Sister (Julia) has given team points for particularly good memes in the past.

Some of the housemates are making digital games, despite being in full knowledge that they will be in a difficult position when it comes to testing the games tomorrow.

Review: The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾

 On Wednesday the 4th of May I had the pleasure of attending The Queens Theatre's production of T he Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾.  I would like to preface this review by saying that as a 22 ¼ year old, I came into this show knowing next to nothing about the source material, yet this didn't negatively impact my experience at all. Indeed, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ is a musical that is fun for all generations, even if you're a bit too young to have seen the original series (or to have been alive in the 80's).  The musical was originally written by Jake Brunger with music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary. Whilst the show doesn't necessarily have a strictly linear plot and the story doesn't have the highest of stakes, its simplicity adds to the charm of the production. Play Review: The Witchfinder's Sister

The Witchfinder's sister is a chilling tale based on the real life witch hunts of Thomas Hopkins. It was first written by Beth Underdown and was later adapted for the stage by Vickie Donoghue. The play tells the tale of Alice Hopkins an intelligent and independent woman who returns to her Essex home after a personal tragedy. Upon her arrival she finds her once beloved brother to be a Witchfinder and embroiled in a dark conspiracy against the women of the area. Alice embarks on a mission to put an end to the hysteria and save the women she knows to be innocent, attempting to save her brother's soul in the process.  Through the use of names and locations most associated with the 1600's witch hunts the story is instantly chilling before the production has even begun. This sense of fear and terror is added to throughout the production through the intense plot, filled with great moments of suspense and an ongoing mystery which allows the audience to unravel the conspiracy...
